Rioters Are Not Protected by The First Amendment

The protestors in Minneapolis, for example, are not legally protesting; they are rioting and breaking several laws. Anarchist behavior, such as impeding law enforcement, recklessly endangering others with cars, and throwing objects at them, protecting lawbreakers, and destroying private and government property, is not a protected right, but is, in fact, breaking the law; they should be arrested for their anarchist actions. They actually demonstrate that they either do not know the law or the Bill of Rights, or they do not actually care about them.

The 1st Amendment protects “the right of the people peaceably to assemble.” It does not protect individuals who attack and impede law enforcement officers, damage private or government property, threaten U.S. citizens, or commit federal crimes by protecting illegal immigrants from law enforcement carrying out the law.

Federal law “8 U.S. Code § 1324, (a)(1)(A)(iii) – Bringing in and harboring certain aliens, classifies the following behavior as a Federal Crime. “Knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation.” https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8/1324

The prolife March held annually in Washington, D.C. exemplifies protesting according to the 1st Amendment, “the right of the people peaceably to assemble,” and the protests in Minneapolis and other like protestations are not peaceable, and, therefore, not protected. They are the opposite; they are aggressive, belligerent, violent, combative, endangering, and destructive, which are riots and anarchy, and not protected by the 1st amendment.

The protestors acting illegally are the cause of the anarchy, and whatever happens that causes harm to law enforcement, illegal immigrants, and the illegal protestors.

Further, Christians are reminded by our Lord to “Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near” (Philippians 4:5).
