Biblical Justice Triumphs over Social Justice

Social justice: While social justice and cultural Marxism are not synonymous, they can rightly be used interchangeably as I have done. [1] They both seek a redistribution of wealth and power from the groups who have it to the ones who do not. That is to say, from the majority to the minority, and in America, that first and foremost means from the white people to the black people. This transfer of wealth and power is regardless of personal merit or how hard a person had to work for his wealth.

The majority must be punished to bring about social justice, and the minority must be rewarded by receiving the power and wealth of the majority. Personal merit is not a factor; only group identity determines whether one should be rewarded or punished. A person is guilty for someone else’s sin even if he does not agree with those who committed the sin or even if the person who committed the sin lived hundreds of years ago. Guilt is determined by whether or not you belong to the guilty group. Social justice leads to the absurd practice of people who do not approve of slavery and have never owned slaves giving money to people who have never been slaves because some people whom we do not know owned slaves and others whom we do not know were slaves. If this form of “justice” prevails, the madness will not and cannot stop. When we refer to black people, we do not mean all black people are proponents of socialistic justice because many are not. [2]

Measures such as graduated tax systems, reparations paid by those who did not sin for what previous generations did, and affirmative action may be implemented in the move toward social justice, but such enactments are almost certain to fail to bring in a just socialistic utopia. Such will almost certainly require a Marxian revolution to overthrow capitalism and Christianity. To overthrow capitalism and America will most assuredly require the use of anarchical riots in which there is massive destruction of private property, killing of innocent people, and forceful intimidation of government, law enforcement, and law-abiding citizens. We have observed this in the destructive riots across America, which have caused the deaths of innocent people, destruction of private property and livelihood, and intimidation of governments resulting in defunding police departments. [3]

We have witnessed this type of rioting in the wake of the killing of George Floyd. The average onlooker who thinks the protests and riots are only about outrage over the death of Floyd or racial injustice is perplexed by black rioters killing innocent black people and destroying their livelihood and property. They are baffled why there is not an outcry by the protesters over the black innocents being killed by the rioters, black on black killings that number more than all the people ever enslaved in America, [4] and by the over one-thousand black babies killed by abortion every day in America. [5] And rightly so because it is not just about having equal opportunity or equal treatment for everyone under the law for the cultural Marxists. It is about equal outcome for everyone regardless of personal merit. To the Marxist, unequal outcome alone is the irrefutable evidence of injustice. To reach their utopic state of equal outcome will require the overthrow of capitalism, America, and with that, Christianity.

Many Christians race to identify with marches led by Black Lives Matter (BLM) and to shout and carry signs with BLM slogans. To suggest Christians should say all people matter because all people are created in the image of God (Gen 1:26-27) can result in personal attacks by Christians who embrace the BLM mantra and BLM-led marches. At a minimum, they will argue with you in defense of using BLM and not biblical language. My conversations have led me to conclude that it does not matter to many if you show them the ungodly beliefs and agendas of BLM, such as “We foster a queer-affirming network. When we gather, we do so with the intention of freeing ourselves from the tight grip of heteronormative thinking, or rather, the belief that all in the world are heterosexual (unless s/he or they disclose otherwise) [and] We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement.” [6] For whatever reason, these Christians are committed to the BLM group mantra. While they may disavow the other unbiblical agendas listed on the BLM website as illustrated here, they will not disavow the BLM mantra. They will often don a BLM t-shirt, and yet they will not wear one proclaiming Christ as the answer.

Two of BLM founders and leaders claim to be trained Marxists. Patrisse Cullors says, “We actually do have an ideological frame. Myself, and Alicia Garza, in particular, are trained organizers; we are trained Marxists. We are super versed in ideological theories. What we really try to do is build a movement that can be used by many, many black folks.” [7] Even when some of the woke, BLM mantra advocates learn this, they continue seeking to justify using the term BLM, which advertises the BLM brand rather than fleeing to the clear declarations of Scripture.

As is true in Marxism, social justice emphasizes group identity rather than individual identity. The division is between the majority groups who are the oppressors and the minority groups who are the oppressed. In critical theory, [8] of which social justice is a part, this division serves as the necessary structure for the transformation of society. [9] The group identity of the oppressed may be comprised of people who did not directly suffer the wrongs. It may also be made up of biblically sinful groups such as homosexuals and non-cisgenders (a non-cisgender is one whose chosen gender identity does not correspond to one’s biological sex at birth). Sometimes non-cisgenders are referred to with terms like transgender or gender fluidity. Cultural Marxism is the progenitor of Identity politics.

The group identity of the oppressors may be composed of people who did not personally contribute to the wrongs against the oppressed group, either in their hearts or by their actions. They are deemed oppressors merely because of their skin color or majority status. For example, they may not be guilty of genuine racism, which is the belief that one’s race is inherently superior to another, and other races are inherently inferior and cannot overcome their inferiority. Or the person may have repented of believing in genuine racism. But, if the person is white and a part of the majority, he is still a racist according to social justice and critical race theory because he is white and a part of the majority.[10] He is a racist because critical race theory says that race is a social construct of white people designed to maintain their place of supremacy and privilege.

Equal opportunity and being treated equally before the laws of man are not sufficient. Nor is it sufficient to be in equal standing before the law of God. Social justice is based on group identity that minimizes or ignores individual merit for benefits sought or guilt for wrongs punished. In social justice, as in critical race theory, merit or guilt is based on such things as skin color, sex, illegal immigrant status, or sexual preferences because they determine whether that group is a majority or minority, and therefore the oppressed or oppressor. Social justice is composed of various dissimilar groups of oppressed and oppressors (whites and blacks, heterosexuals and homosexuals, Christians and non-Christians), and, accordingly, intentionally disunifies society.

For example, notice how often the progressives (liberals) depict conservative Christians (the majority) in a negative light and Muslims (the minority) in a positive light even though Islam tortures and murders innocent people in the name of Allah every day. Moreover, if America were to become an Islamic state, the same liberals who sympathized and promoted Islam would be summarily stripped of the freedom to espouse their progressive views or even executed for them. Their romantic love of ideals like equal outcomes, no poverty, and their disdain for America and capitalism, which by the way gave them the opportunity to live better than any people in history, will usher them into the harsh reality of an Islamic state that will silence them and their dreams. Social justice advocates are the determiners of who are the oppressors (sinners) and who are the oppressed (non-sinners), and what the oppressors will have to do to achieve forgiveness for themselves and equity for the oppressed.

Biblical justice: emanates from God’s holy and loving nature (Lev 19:2; 1 Pet 1:15; 1 John 4:8) and is impartial (Acts 10:34; Jas 2:9). He communicates his standard of justice through his holy Word (Jer 9:24; John 17:17). Everyone is created in the image of God and belongs to the human race (Gen 1:26-28). They are, therefore, essentially equal and under the same righteous standard of justice. Because everyone has personally sinned against God, everyone has fallen short of his holy justice (Rom 3:9-11). Each person is accountable for only his sin rather than the sins of his ancestors or any group to which he belongs unless he condones or participates in the sin of the group (Ezek 18:19-21).

Because God is love (1 John 4:8, 16), he desires to save every person from their due judgment for their sin, and he has provisioned so that everyone can be saved (Ezek 18:32; 33:11; John 1:29; 3:16; 20:30-31). Everyone is saved from the just penalty for their sin in the same way, which is by repentance and faith in Christ for sins they actually committed against God’s holiness, whether in thought or deed (Matt 5:27-28; John 3:17; 1 Cor 6:9; 1 John 4:10). God forgives anyone and everyone when they trust Christ as Savior (John 3:36; 6:40; 11:25-26; Titus 2:11-14; 1 John 1:9). Everyone needs forgiveness in Christ (Luke 13:3; Rom 3:9-11), and everyone who seeks forgiveness through Christ will find forgiveness (Rom 10:9-10, 13).

Christians are reconciled to God in Christ, and in Christ, all barriers are broken down (Gal 3:28; Eph 2:14-15; Col 1:20). All the redeemed in Christ are to live carrying the gospel of reconciliation to the world (Rom 5:10; 2 Cor 5:18-21). Therefore, impartial justice unifies all humans because it includes the truth that all humans are created in God’s image, essentially equal (Gen 1:26-27), loved by God (John 3:16), personally sinful before God, and in need of redemption (Rom 3:23) and that God desires for everyone to be redeemed (Matt 11:28-30). Once saved, we also share in the same mandate to carry the message of reconciliation to the world (Matt 28:18-20; 2 Cor 5:18-21).

Social justice is the work of the flesh, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes dissensions, factions, envying (Gal 5:19-21), whereas the works of God’s impartial justice are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (Gal 5:22-23). Christians are to reflect God’s impartial love and justice toward everyone (Exod 23:3; Lev 19:15; Mic 6:8) and compassionately minister to the genuinely needy, orphans, and poor (Deut 10:18; Ps 140:12; 1 Tim 5:3; Jas 1:27) while maintaining that those who can work must work or not eat (1 Thess 4:11; 2 Thess 3:10).

Unlike social justice, impartial justice guides us to obey the government (Rom 13:1-7), not to focus on reparations or punishment for wrongs done in the past by others to our ancestors (1 Cor 13:5) or retaliation (1 Pet 2:23), but instead to focus on loving our neighbor as ourselves (Matt 22:39), praying for our enemies (Matt 5:10-12, 44) and developing Christ’s character in us (2 Pet 1:5-7) so we can share with all (Matt 19:19).

[3] Noman Oklahoma, where I live, did decrease funding for our police department by $885,000.00. This seems to have been done because of the City Council’s liberal bias, but mostly because of the protests in Norman and threats of rioters across the country in fulfillment of the BLM agenda to nationally defund police departments. [8] Critical theory is a Marxian inspired socialistic philosophy emanating from the Frankfurt school. Its design is to change the present culture into one more in line with Marxism. The theory draws significantly on the thought of Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, and Sigmund Freud.
[9] Critical theory, of which critical race theory is a part, seeks to change society rather than just explain it like other social theories.
[10] Critical race theory espouses that race is created by the white population in order to keep the black population in a subservient role to advance the interests of the white population. Race is not related to biology at all.
