Think About IT: Why Is the Bible Difficult to Understand?

Loving God and knowing Scripture are inseparable!

The Jews were bewildered by the spiritualness and penetrating insight of Christ’s teaching because He had not been trained by the rabbinical school of His day.

Jesus made it clear that He was taught of God. Of course, this prompts the question on their part, how can one know that His teaching is truly God’s teaching?

This is a good question. How can someone today know the truth of God and that Jesus reveals that truth? One would think that Jesus might say study hard, go to school, learn the original languages, all of which have their place. However, that is not the starting point.

The starting point as well as the continuing posture for learning the Scripture is to desire to learn the Scripture in order to follow God. Without that desire, deep intimate understanding of the Scripture is inaccessible. With it, the simple may learn the grandest and deepest eternal truths ever revealed to man.

“If anyone is willing to do His will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is of God or whether I speak from Myself,” John 7:17.
